Pisa is located in the north of Italy. It is a small town with a population of only 100,000. Pisa although principally known for the leaning tower has other places of tourist attractions as well. This town served as the naval base in Italy throughout the Roman times.

Pisa rose to occupy the peak in military and economic fronts in the 12th century when it was regarded as a chief maritime force and trading city as a result of which the major part of its architecture could be dated back to the 12th century. We have mentioned some of the tourist spots in Pisa below.

The Leaning tower of Pisa is undoubtedly the most prominent sightseeing attraction in Pisa and probably one of the most known in Italy. Paradoxically, had the tower not been deficient it is doubtful that it would be so famous. Nevertheless the inclination in this tower attracts tourists from far and wide who come to be photographed in front of the tower.

Entry is restricted inside the tower at all times for fear of safety, though it is possible to get entrance into the tower by spending 15 Euros. It is better to reserve your place in advance because there is a limit for the number of people to be allowed into the Tower on a daily basis.

Pisa is famous for the Christian baptistery in which people are drawn into the Christian belief. The structure of the baptistery dates back to the 12th century though it was completed only 200 years later.

This baptistery reflects both the Romanesque and the Gothic styles of sculpture in the sense that one can see a pool-like structure in the middle of the building into which water would have been filled and people would have immersed as a ritualistic custom.

The Cathedral in Pisa is a great illustration of Romanesque architecture that is congenital in the Tuscany region of Italy.

The building itself is believed to be built in the 11th century with grandiose interior supported by 68 columns. Green and white marble interiors are the attractions of the Cathedral in Pisa. Entrance fee to this Cathedral is 2 Euros.

For those wanting to do some sightseeing in Pisa at a more leisurely pace, there are boat tours available that travel down the River Arno from which many of Pisa’s sights can be viewed. Tickets cost about 5.

There are many more fun things to do in Pisa.

Have you ever noticed when you go to Starbucks, everyone has a laptop computer. And everyone also has a laptop bag to go with it. Why? One to prevent it from getting damaged while transporting it, but also to carry their junk with them.

When selecting the laptop bag that is right for you, several factors go into making the correct decision. One of them is the style of the bag. There are so many options available. It really comes down to personal preference when choosing a laptop bag. Business people are probably not going to pick a bag that is so stylish and chic that it draws a lot of attention. They are going to play it safe and select a bag that is more neutral in color and style.

Today laptop bags are designed to be shockproof and waterproof. The last thing you want is to have moisture get into your bag and ruin the computer or important papers. Choosing a bag that is durable and well padded will help should you drop your laptop accidentally. Laptops are not cheap and should be well protected when transporting them. Another thing to consider before making your laptop bag purchase is the fabric. To provide the best protection, leather and nylon are great choices. They also offer the most durability. Preventing your laptop from damage could come down to whether you chose the correct laptop bag. The last thing you want to do is buy a new computer because your laptop bag did not provide adequate protection.

People like to carry a lot of stuff. Therefore, it is important that the laptop bags have compartments to keep things organized. Having easy access to the compartments is essential.

Although there are many things you could consider when choosing the right bag for you, these are just a few. In the end, it boils down to personal preference. A little planning now can save you big down the road. Also, if the laptop is going to be used primarily for when you travel, then selecting a stylish, chic laptop bag is not a bag option.

You may be surprised to know that both Dallas, Texas and the South Pole reach temperatures of 100 degree each July. Granted, at the South Pole the 100 degrees is below zero. This is so cold that any skin not covered will freeze in seconds.

You may be surprised to know that both Dallas, Texas and the South Pole reach temperatures of 100 degree each July. But at the South Pole it will be 100 degrees below zero. This means that a person could freeze in just a matter of seconds.

Currently, dozens of people spend half a year down there at the time, having to contend with isolation, little to no sunlight, and nothing else to do. These twenty-eight people are part of the U.S. crew that maintains and operates the telescopes and other scientific equipment found at the South Pole research station. However, even in this frozen area so far from civilization, modern technology is leaving its mark.

Recently North American astronomers were able to communicate and operate with the South Pole Observatory’s Telescope using a satellite. This made history as the first time a South Pole telescope was controlled from another continent. Astronomers dream of one day being able to sit in a warm, comfortable office as they observe happenings at the South Pole.

But the crew at the South Pole will experience the coldest, driest and windiest weather to be found on the planet. With the elevations here being higher than anywhere else on the planet, they also have to deal with breathing issues. It is the harsh and severely cold climate that makes it only possible for cold-adapted plants and animals to survive on this continent. These include penguins, seals, and various forms of algae and tundra vegetation.

People who are willing to commit to this six-month experience will enjoy the new nickname of “winter-over”. They will have a vast library, small exercise room, computers, pool table and excellent food to enjoy. In terms of what happens to the stations in the interval when they’re at hope, Winter-over don’t really discuss the details very much, so few people know what occurs between February and October.

With the huge expansions of the research program at the South Pole there have been continuous power shortages. There are only three oil-burning generators to power the computers, lights, telescopes, lasers, and other electrical powered devices. This means that winter-over have to deal with insufficient power, in addition to cramped quarters and cold buildings.

Traditions are fun ways to while away the hours while in Antarctica. One is the “300 Club”, which requires a day when the outside temperature will be at least 100 degrees below zero. The sauna is brought up to over 200 degrees. Winter-over enter the sauna, get hot, then run out into the cold, entering soon after, experiencing a 300 degree change in temperature.

They also look forward to the annual airdrop. In June, a National Guard plane from the U.S. military flies over the South Pole, bringing welcome supplies, food, and mail. The winter-over anxiously bring their treasures into the station with the help of heavy equipment. Airdrop is the closest thing to contact with the rest of the world that winter-over have during their six-month assignment.

They do not even get to see a tree or travel more than a mile from the pole. Everyone who takes on this responsibility is given a week’s vacation at the McMurdo Station, which is a U.S Antarctic base. They take advantage of this time to camp out in lovely 25-degree weather, bake in the sun on the beach, and relax in t-shirts and jeans.

Larger than both and Europe, Antarctica contains 10% of the land mass in the world. As daunting as it is expansive, Antarctica endures frigid temps of negative 89 degrees Celsius, and can incur winds of up to 192 mph! This continent lies in the Southern Ocean.

These waters are home to the world’s most nourishing nutrient currents, supporting unmeasurable numbers of whales, fish, seals, penguins, dolphins, and flying birds. Masses of micro forage and krill inhabit under the huge ice shelves. Krill is the primary diet of baleen whales, seals and penguins, and is even used in Japan as a food source for humans.

Because of the extreme weather conditions prevalent in Antartica, all animals must learn to adapt in order to survive. The yearly rainfall is a mere 200 mm on the coast (less as you travel inland), and it is maintains the highest average elevation among the 7 continents. The many different species of algea, vegetation, and animals that have evolved to stand the extreme cold.

A unique natural condition makes Antarctica meaningful for all life on this planet. The atmosphere is comprised of a variety of molecules, and the heavier ones have a tendency to settle near the poles of our planet, making the greenhouse effect more pronounced in these areas. The high levels of energy output from the sun are far more pronounced at the poles, as these molecules allow for greater energy absorption, essentially increasing the surface temperature of these areas.

The earth’s atmosphere is comprised of 21 percent oxygen, 79 percent nitrogen, Carbon dioxide and methane exist in tiny amounts. The back-radiation from earth is absorbed into the gases and water vapor, warming the air. Scientists call this the Greenhouse Effect.

Because of the so-called “slingshot effect” at the equator, the regions around the poles build up methane and carbon dioxide faster than more temperate regions of the earth. Because the temperature increase from Greenhouse effects is 4-5 times greater in Antarctica, this region makes an ideal location for research, especially into the Greenhouse Effect.

The ice of Antarctica is layered almost three miles deep. The ice layers have been building on the continent for millions of years. Much has been learned by scientists through careful study and observation of atmospheric samples taken from the continent of Antarctica.

The well-known ozone layer breach is said to be the result of harmful CFC’s … an atmospheric imbalance caused by these toxic pollutants. They create detrimental consequences when reaching our ozone. As a result of the elevated heating occurrence, massive chunks of ice layers have been ripped away.

These enormous ice sheets then float north and eventually melt. Sea levels then become higher as a result of the ice liquefying into water. Not to mention the krill loose their food source and habitat for reproduction.

If all the continent’s ice shelves were to disappear into the ocean, it is calculated that sea levels would increase by more than 180 feet. New York City would end up a “Venice” of sorts, with waters reaching as high as the 20th story of many large buildings. Countries that are more low lying, like Bangladesh and the archipelagos of the South Pacific, would disappear entirely.

Most people who have been to Antarctica will tell you of the breathtaking beauty of the continent. The animals don’t always view people as a threat. The purity of God’s creatures, coupled with the brilliant radiance of nature, is simply a remarkable sight to see.

It is the hope of many that this world will remain intact, its beauty forever preserved for future generations. However, the destruction of this continent has been ongoing for a very long time, and irrevocable damage is being done to it. While measures to promote the preservation of this world have begun, with many nations helping, more are needed to protect this beauty.

In Antarctica some the highest temperatures only reach a minus 25. These are during summer months, like December. It takes just one gale-forced wind blowing across a glacier that’s two miles thick, everywhere you look, to create a wind chill that’ll freeze your eyelids. The South Pole has to be the roughest place to be other than outer space.

It would be hard to find a job that is more desolate and important as the United State’s permanent scientific outpost located here. Until recently, only approved researchers could set food in Antarctica. But all this change when wealthy tourists and adventurers began to charter flights to the frosty region.

It seems that all there is to see is ice and snow. You won’t even catch sight of a lone penguin for as far as the eye can see. However, being able to say that one has stood at the South Pole is something that few can claim.

Watching the diesel bulldozers and cranes help build the outpost up into an attraction is not something the scientists and officials are happy about. This is even truer when visitors show up during research season. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done to stop them.

Antarctica isn’t owned by any nation, however 43 nations signed treaties in order to protect and study an icy section as big as Mexico and the United States combined. All throughout the year, regardless of the months of constant winter the continent experiences, the American station stays staffed. Whether invited or not, there is an unwritten code of the ice that compels the staff to help anybody that makes it as far as 90 degrees south of latitude.

Since it can often be difficult to survive down there because of the high altitudes, it’s not recommended that people idly visit. Visitors usually will arrive cold, dehydrated and experiencing altitude sickness.

Originally, in 1975, the dome slept thirty-three men. Now the two hundred men and women at the Pole crowd into every bed that is available. Prefabricated bunkhouses made of plywood, canvas and plastic can now be seen stretching down the glacier and carry the nickname of Summer Camp.

As in many camps, Summer Camp has access to an unlimited supply of fresh water. But melting ice with $12 per gallon fuel necessitates that shower, laundry and flush toilets are infrequent luxuries. The long trek to a communal bathroom can be a perilous and bone-chilling experience even underneath the blazing sun at 3:00 AM.

Military escorts were assigned to Antarctica’s first female researchers. Thankfully, women are given more equal footing nowadays, as they take up a third of the work force now. The Pole doesn’t give them any quarter either.

Research indicates that workers in extreme cold need three times more time to finish a simple task. This is because in the cold the brain produces more hormones needed for physical activity while reducing those required for problem solving. Conditions deteriorate throughout the winter months.

Banking north, the last aircraft leaves in mid February. Staying behind during the winter is a crew of 28. It will not be until October that the sun will once again make an appearance and the planes will return.

If you are looking for senior golf vacation packages where you can get golf lessons, a friendly game of golf or watch a PGA Tour, you could look on the Internet to see where the best destinations would be. You might travel to Arizona, Hawaii, Bermuda or Myrtle Beach.

You could have some thrilling rounds of golf when you reserve a senior golf package that involves accommodation, airfare and a few days of golf. You will not only enjoy your golf, but the many attractions in the area as well. Vacation packages are great and when they involve golf at a very prestigious club, you will have an even better time.

Myrtle Beach has some of the most prestigious golf vacation packages with different activities built into each one. You can play the Big Cat and even have a lesson or two from the former Senior Golf Tour player Gary Cowan. Gary Cowan was the winner of two majors and made eight appearances in other majors.

You may prefer the Big Cat package, the Fanatic golfer package or the four rounds and three-night package. The latter is for the true golfer. Four days of golf and only three-nights in the hotel is what you get with this vacation package.

In Maui, you can play one of the courses designed by Robert Trent Jones; enjoy a day in the warm sun and experience a golf course like you have never played before. You can stay at the Kaanapali Beach hotel and take the short walk to the golf course.

The two courses are a senior golfer’s delight. The South Course has an executive style, but with little complexity whereas the North Course runs through the foothills and along the beach and is considered a challenging golf course. It is also home to the PGA Tour.

If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, you might like to try the senior golf vacation package to Bermuda. With nine golf courses spread out on twenty-one acres of land, you will find that this is one of the most exceptional experiences of a lifetime. You can choose from fourteen hotels and resorts that offer senior golf vacation packages. With sea all around, you will feel the warm breeze and smell the ocean as you enjoy a great game of golf. Many vacation packages include at least one day of golf, but you can find holiday package deals with more days as well.

However, the story of senior golf vacation packages does not stop there. You could enjoy a trip to Arizona where you can find some of the foremost golfing schools. The golf courses in the area put on the PGA and the LPGA. The Scottsdale area is filled with many senior friendly golf courses that will interest even the accomplished golfer.

Not only do you have the game of golf, but some of the best entertainment is on hand in the area as well. You can plan a senior golf outing anywhere you can find a great package deal and professional coaching.

One hundred years ago, the whaling ship “Antarctic” sailed to the wind-battered, volcanic coast of Antarctica. She sent her longboats on the treacherous journey across the Ross Sea to the rugged shore. On January 24, 1895, Captain Leonard Kristensen and the landing party of the “Antarctic” left the first trace of human kind on the frozen continent in their quest to slaughter whales in these, as yet, unclaimed waters.

It was in blood that Antarctica was christened. Countless animals were killed for the money that could be made off of them. For example, seals were murdered for their fur, whales and penguin were slaughtered for the oil they produce which was used to grease the machinery during the Industrial Revolution. Submissive penguins by the hundreds of thousands, were paraded up planks only to plunge off the edge of cauldrons filled with boiling oil, so that their own oil could be relinquished.

Now, 100 years later, this Frozen Continent is going to be used as a natural preserve of nature and science forevermore. This means that humans can no longer voyage to Antarctica in search of a quick way to make money through killing. Recently, there have even been discussions about starting a world park in this region. Many scientists see Antarctica as a place to study the effects of global pollutant threats like the depletion of the ozone layer and the green house effect. It is surprising how fast this change of thought has come about in Antarctica. When you consider how long the human race has been around, the short time we have been on Antarctica is very minimal. Up until the International Geophysical Year of 1957-1958, only several routes to the South Pole and small areas of coastline had been explored.

The history of man’s presence in Antarctica has been an indistinct collection of stories that portray nationalism, idealism, and unabated slaughter with far too little scientific undertaking involved. Whaling heightened during World War I, as the glycerin extracted from the oil of whales was valuable for the making of artillery shells. Whale oil continued to be a commodity after World War II, as the Soviet Union and the United States began to require more of the substance for use as a jet engine lubricant. Prior to the International Geophysical Year of 1957-1958, Antarctica was identified as the “Terra Incognita,” by medieval mapmakers.

As a matter of fact, the first person to be born in Antarctica is still too young to be considered an adult. It is important to understand that even this birth has a patriotic pretense. It was at Argentina’s Esperanza Base that Emilio Marcus Palmer was born in 1978. His mother was flown in solely for the purpose of giving birth to him, so Argentina could lay claim to a large area of Antarctic territory.

This incident occurred only nine years after America ‘claimed’ the moon by planting a US flag when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed there. However, Roald Amundsen’s 1911 trip to the South Pole, honoring King Haakon VII of Norway, still stands as the most single-minded and successful exploit to date. This same journey was made by Robert F. Scott of England, though his team took the time to amass fossil and rock samples along the way, carrying these things all on sleds.

It is believed that between the discouragement felt when they found out that Amundsen reached the Pole a month sooner, eating a poor diet, having to haul the rocks and fossils, and utter bad luck caused Scott and his team to perish on the return trip, making them the first people to die in Antarctica for the sake of science. America was able to claim interest in the South Pole when Richard Byrd flew over it in 1929 in a Ford Trimotor airplane. The Soviet Union also announced their own interest in the area in 1821 when they sent Admiral Thaddeus Bellinghausen through the territory.

Is a trip to New York City coming up for you? The thought of just where you will be eating has probably also crossed your mind. As there are thousands of great places that you can pick from, the task of getting that down to only a handful or so might just prove to be ultra challenging.

The factors that will be taken into consideration when deciding where to eat at are how much it will cost, what foods you like, the amount of time you have and where you are at. The following are my suggestions for where you might want to eat at, and they all have good prices and are easily reached by a subway trip or a ride in a taxi.

Everyone knows that New York is known for its great pizza. One great place to check out is Luzzo’s in the East Village. This place serves up some of the best Neapolitan pizza I’ve ever tried, and I’m by no means the only person to make that claim. These pies are hot, fresh, and the perfect size.

You may also want to try John’s Pizza on Bleecker Street in the West Village if you find yourself on the West side of town. This landmark restaurant is known as one of the best pizzerias in all of Manhattan, and commonly has a line that goes out the door.

You can’t come to New York City without getting a taste of its bagels. One good place to check out when you are uptown is one of the H&H Bagels stores.

There are two Murray’s Bagels stores that can be found on the West side and you should make a point of stopping at one of them when you are downtown. Choose a spread that you like and put it on them when they are nice and hot - you will enjoy them immensely.

Craving a burger? NYC is home to some of the best in the world, and many believe that the finest are offered at Shake Shack. There are two main locations that you may be able to get to pretty easily.

One is in Madison Square Park. If you find yourself here when it’s cold out, this may not be ideal, as it’s literally located inside the park and has no indoor seating.

The Upper West Side is where the other Shake Shack is located at. This location is indoors so the weather wouldn’t matter in this case. You will really enjoy the awesome burgers, as well as the shakes and fries, no matter which one you choose to go to.

This writer also often gives advice regarding things like no show socks and thorlo tennis socks.
